Meet The Provider

Sam Mathew

MA, MSN, PMHNP

Sam is a graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, where he received advanced training as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry. He has extensive experience as a psychiatric case manager, having worked with clients and families in Seattle and its suburbs to help them navigate the healthcare system and obtain services for individuals with Dementia and other psychiatric conditions. Sam holds two master’s degrees, one in Psychiatry and the other in English Literature, and served in the Airforce (IAF) where he obtained his electronic engineering diploma.

While trying to help his elderly mother diagnosed with dementia, Sam realized the lack of coordination between community services that assist families in similar situations. This inspired him to gain experience as a psychiatric case manager by working for a local healthcare agency, and now with additional training as a psychiatric provider he is ready to offer his expertise to other families.

Sam has worked with hundreds of families and has coordinated care across multiple disciplines, earning appreciation from many families on the East side of Seattle. Sam is guided by Christian principles and is passionate about serving others, believing that the greatest happiness is attained by helping others.

I've been seeing Sam for over half a year now and I can confidently say he genuinely cares about his patients. He is very kind and always takes the time to listen carefully to my concerns without rushing the conversation. I really appreciate how he focuses on a personalized approach rather than a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. He works with me to find solutions that fit my individual needs and recovery process. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful and compassionate nurse practitioner in the field.

I had a terrible time in 2024! I was very bad, not able to organize things, forgetful, impulsive and not able to finish things. It was hard to sleep and paying attention, so, no focus at all! I felt lost! I felt pain in my chest and it was the time my husband told me about Sam from Angel's Psychiatry. I have been one year working with Sam Mathew and discovering every day new things about me. I am able to focus and taking care of things, I am so happy, a terrible moment of my life was a page I turned! I could find a great professional that help me and my family to start a new beginning. Thank you so much for helping me and others to find ourselves!

I am very grateful to psychotherapist and psychiatrist Sam Mathew. I had almost lost hope of finding help and a specialist who would understand, believe, and genuinely try to sort out the tangle of my problems and long-standing psychological traumas, and truly try to help. When I saw the name "Angels Psychiatry," I thought it was too good to be true. And yet, I really wanted to believe because I could no longer live with my problems as they were. When I started seeing this specialist, I was convinced that the name was completely true and justified. He is the best specialist in psychology and psychiatry, very attentive, and genuinely wants to understand and help. And most importantly, he's flexible, which is crucial for a therapist. For example, when I explained that breathing techniques weren't working for me and were causing me even more stress, he immediately suggested other methods, while other "specialists" simply ignored what I was saying, insisting I was doing something wrong, or spent subsequent sessions preparing before even slightly changing anything and offering something else. Thanks to Sam Mathew, I already feel much better; I've finally started sleeping normally, something I haven't had for years. We haven't solved all my problems yet, but I'm already incredibly grateful. I'm simply terrified to imagine what would have happened to me now if I hadn't found this spetialist a few months ago.

Ive been through many therapists and multiple psychiatrists. Constantly feeling like something was wrong with me because it seemed as though I was unable to make progress or truly go beyond just venting. Until I met Sam. His holistic approach values and takes into account your lived experience, and considers your goals and the person you want to be. He lays out a plan to get you there and each week we meet to make progress. Every session is like unraveling a long thread, which is amazing as we can pickup from previous session and move forward. With previous therapists i always found that it was difficult where we left off either because I'd forget or they would. But at Angel's Psychiatry its phenomenal to have therapy and medication management, as someone with ADHD, it was so hard to keep track of who i was telling what as I navigated the mental health system with multiple providers. Having Sam see the whole picture really helps me feel deeply understood and seen in ways that I had not been in the past. I highly recommend his practice to anyone and everyone who is navigating mental health challenges or is simply seeking help to lead a more balanced life. My family could not be more grateful for all his help.
